New Cheech & Chong Film in the Works from Broken Lizard Director
It's been over four years since we heard that Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong were working on returning as their pot-smoking duo Cheech & Chong in a sequel to their fan favorite comedy Up in Smoke. Now it appears that film might finally have life as Chong recently talked to CelebStoner (via THR) and said Beerfest and Super Troopers director Jay Chandrasekhar is working on a script for a new film featuring the infamous stoners. We're not sure if the film would be Up in Smoke 2, or if this would be a completely different adventure for Cheech & Chong. But we do have one detail about the developing film. More below!
Chong revealed, "[Jay Chandrasekhar is] working a script right now for us. We've had some preliminary meetings. It looks really good. It looks really funny. It will be about us going to a festival called the Burning Joint. All sorts of shenanigans happen. It's going to be a lot of fun." Just last year we heard Broken Lizard was working on Weedfest, the follow-up to their Beerfest comedy, but there haven't been any updates on that or Super Troopers 2. It would interesting if there were some way to combine all three of these worlds into a single film, but we'll have to wait and see if this even comes together or not. The timing is perfect as states continue to legalize marijuana around the country. Stay tuned.

It'd be cool if they intertwined this with Weedfest, with each cast at some point running into the other.
