Dracula Untold Trailer

"Sometimes the world doesn't need another hero… Sometimes what it needs is a monster." Universal has finally unveiled the full official US trailer for Gary Shore's Dracula Untold, which we first released earlier in the week before it was pulled down by the studio. Luke Evans stars as Vlad the Impaler in this origin story of Dracula, set back in the 1400s following a man who must defend his family. Its been referenced before, but this basically looks like Snow White and the Huntsman meets Underworld, something like that. The VFX are okay, but nothing spectacular, and overall I'm not that impressed. Give it a closer look below.

Here's the new US trailer for Gary Shore's Dracula Untold, in high def from Apple:

Dracula Untold is directed by newcomer Gary Shore, making his feature debut after a 2005 horror short film titled The Draft. The story follows real-life historical figure Prince Vlad of Transylvania, known as the inspiration for Dracula, as his wife and child find themselves in danger from a despicable sultan. He risks his very soul to save them. Evans explained in our interview: "We're back in the 1400's when you meet this man who was the king of his land who had reigned peacefully for 10 years… It's sort of an origin story, but it's really the story of Vlad the Impaler and what he does and the things that happen to him in his life that show you how Dracula is born." Dracula Untold arrives in US theaters starting on October 17th this year.

Actually looks a lot better than I expected. I expected another "I-Frankenstine/Van Helsing" CG crap fest, but this looks like they actually developed a decent story.

Grouping I Frankenstein in with Van Helsing is just unfair. I Frankenstein was a cheap, low-budget failure while Van Helsing had very high production value and was a thoroughly entertaining action-adventure film. And the CGI was great considering that it is now over a decade old.

I hope it's not going to be like I,Frankenstein please! Though a little bit doubtful with screenplay writers here, I dont think they have proven anything yet. Just in it for Luke Evans really, but hoping the story is awesome too!

Getting a bit of The Mummy vibe as well (atleast the transforming scenes).

So Dracula was just a good guy pushed to save his family? Seems like a stupid re-write of an established back story. But the effects look good.

Looks much better than I expected.

if you think this is the origins story it's pretty ridiculous! But If you want a evening with cgi, action and stupid story it will do fine! Ps I didn't see people on stakes and realy he put 23 000 Turkish soldiers on stakes to scare of the generals and the Sultan. He didn't care about his wife because at that time every marriage was pre arranged.. They called him vlad the impaler and not vlad the bat! Hahahahaha

Exactly! The impaling wasn't pretty and most were still freaking alive.

It was the biggest idiot dictator ever and the Turks where very afraid of him. And mind this:the Turks weren't happy dictators either... Vlad tepes was a lunatic at the wrong place and wrong time...

Sick shot at the end with that bat punch. I like Evans and Gadon. I'm going to see it.

Damn, I hate it when they put the fangs on the wrong teeth. They don't call them incisors for nothing.

97point6 on Jun 27, 2014

They are not necessarily in the wrong teeth: it's a matter of preference. They decided to go with the maxillary lateral incisors instead of the canines and that's okay.

Success. Another dental student outed.

If it helps for you to know, that Prince Charles of England claims he's a descendant of Dracula. Hehe!

Why is the 'Sultan' played by a white guy (Dominic Cooper)? Were they suggesting by the Sultan requiring 1000 boys that the dude is a paedophile?

tv-addict on Jun 28, 2014

19

Most probably. If it's for combat, why choose boys when you'd know you'll lose the battle!

Thanks for the info. I thought it was Hollywood doing the usual whitewashing thing & making Muslims look really bad thing.

It looks like a generic epic. Not bad. Not great. Maybe just good?

I hope this is not going to be like 'Snow White & the Huntsman' (fingers crossed), w/c was too superficial w/ CGI effects&all but didnt have a new story to tell; they failed big time on screenplay, thus leaving the viewers fast&furious, no lasting impression, but a movie that's best forgotten! Dracula is an epic story that needs the best story piece, he's the father of all Vampires for goodness sake. CGI effects comes handy for it's myths & legends. But based on the trailer, this should be different from other Dracula story who are mostly romanticist. Given his history &the Book, what else is there if it's Dracula Untold they say!

This looks pretty badass i think. Nice prequel to Bram Stokers Dracula

Would have been awesome if they just grounded this in reality instead of the C.G. feast, which reallybhasnt been special in years. Make it gritty and dirty as we see Vlad spiral into madness. The impaling of his enemies would have been horrifying.
