Official US Trailer for Ruben Östlund's Dark Comedy 'Force Majeure'
"An ice cold knockout." Easily one of my favorite films of the year, Force Majeure from Swedish director Ruben Östlund is an entertaining dark comedy that everyone has been falling for once they get the chance to see it. Johannes Bah Kuhnke & Lisa Loven Kongsli star as the parents of a family on a skiing vacation in the French alps. When a freak avalanche causes the family to scramble for survival, it screws up the rest of their trip and things only seem to be getting crazier. As much as it may not sound like tons of fun, or seem like a dark comedy at first, this film is brilliant and lives up to the hype. Similar to the first teaser & trailer we featured back in May, this trailer includes stunning shots of the mountains, and a taste of the madness.
Here's the official US trailer for Ruben Östlund's Force Majeure, in high def from Apple:
A Swedish family travels to the French Alps to enjoy a few days of skiing. During a lunch at a mountainside restaurant, an avalanche turns everything upside down. With diners fleeing in all directions, mother Ebba calls for her husband Tomas as she tries to protect their children. Tomas, meanwhile, is running for his life… The anticipated disaster failed to occur, and yet the family's world has been shaken to its core, a question mark hanging over their father in particular. Tomas and Ebba's marriage now hangs in the balance as Tomas struggles desperately to reclaim his role as family patriarch. Force Majeure is written & directed by Swedish filmmaker Ruben Östlund, of Play, Involuntary and Gitarrmongot previously. The film first premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. Magnolia Pictures will open Force Majeure starting October 24th.
