Paramount Eyeing Sean Harris to Play 'Mission: Impossible 5' Villain
by Ethan Anderton
September 5, 2014
Source: Deadline
Production is already underway on Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions sequel Mission: Impossible 5 with director Christopher McQuarrie at the helm. Tom Cruise is back in action as Ethan Hunt and he's joined again by Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner with Alec Baldwin entering the fray as the head of the CIA, who must deal with the Impossible Mission Force for some reason. Now Deadline has word on who might end up with the chief antagonist role with Prometheus supporting actor Sean Harris being courted for the role. Though the source cautions that this isn't a done deal quite yet.
Harris isn't all that well-known in the United States, but the British actor has starred in the UK thriller Harry Brown, the indie 24-Hour Party People, the Belgian Red Riding thriller trilogy and the Showtime series "The Borgias." This could be a big breakthrough role for Harris (along with fellow Brit actress Rebecca Ferguson in the female lead), especially with how successful the Mission: Impossible franchise has proven to be nearly 20 years after the first film premiered in 1996. Even more impressive is Tom Cruise staying in the lead as Ethan Hunt. Stay tuned to see if Harris ends up with the role or if someone else does.

good choice but it will never beat MI 4... Maybe one of the best action movies of the last 10 years...

We sure do. After a look at the 2011 release list, I'd say among those I liked better than GP includes: Sucker Punch, Holmes 2 and even Fast Five and Battle LA. Maybe the last Harry Potter, I don't remember it too well.

Can't blame for HP, and I'm very used to people not liking Sucker Punch, but you and I are still enemies though. I have a lot of enemies over this movie.

yes I watched twice and I cant believe Zack Snyder could make such a bad movie. Filled with cgi, characters who you cant relate to and constant bombardment for images. I liked king Kong very much but people around me didn't like it. So everybody has that problem...

It was OK, and would have been better without Simon Pegg's mugging.

He was excellent in the Borgias show playing a gay assassin for the pope. Bummer that show got cancelled right after a cliffhanger episode.

He looks like his character could be pretty intense. Ethan could use a good physical opponent again like in MI2.
