Source: THR
Briefly: Paramount Pictures has already slated Mission: Impossible 5 for release on December 25th, 2015, but the film is still sauntering towards production. Christopher McQuarrie is attached to direct the film with Tom Cruise still situated in the lead role as Ethan Hunt, and now the film has a new writer. Iron Man 3 scribe Drew Pearce worked on the film previously, but now THR reports Paramount and Skydance Productions have hired Will Staples to work on a new draft. Staples is best known for writing the video games Need for Speed: Rivals and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, but he has several film projects in development as well. Jessica Chastain was recently rumored for a role, but we'll see if that comes together.

Can we please just let this series die? The last one was awful. They should have stopped at 3.

They're probably about as good as MI though.

To be fair 1-3 were good IMO with 3 being the best. 4 was like a whole different movie, WAY less serious, I hated it.

I want Simon Pegg excluded from the next one. I feel like his character kills the serious tone of the movie.
