Paranormal Activity

Originally, the next film in the Paranormal Activity franchise was slated to be released this fall, but that's clearly not happening. Instead, Paramount Pictures is releasing the film on March 13th, 2015, taking the release date originally meant for their horror comedy adventure Scouts vs. Zombies. The latter film will now be bumped up for release on February 20th, 2015. In addition, Deadline says the film will be titled Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension. But where will the story go, especially after Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, which seemed to be a spin-off, actually tied directly to the original.

Frankly, the end of the The Marked Ones completely renewed my interest in the horror franchise. The series has taken some weird turns, but the twist at the end of the last one was pretty wild. Based on the title, one would assume that this might continue the story from The Marked Ones. And considering how that spin-off tied into the franchise, could this be Paranormal Activity 5 or Paranormal Activity 6? Or maybe it's just Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones 2? All we know is franchise producer Gregory Plotkin is directing. Hopefully we'll have the confusion cleared up once a trailer pops up. Thoughts?

i thought the marked ones was part 5? Confusing ...

Well, it was touted as a spin-off, but the ending revealed itself to be directly tied to the first film. So it's not clear if it was actually Paranormal Activity 5, which is probably why they're just going with subtitles now instead of numbers.

5 is a new story... where 1,2,3,4 & marked ones which could be an origins tale ,in some way, was to show how powerful this demon spirit and Satanic cult is, they have the power to subvert and travel through time. So setting up a new story, which is what they are doing, even though each film introduced a new family and characters, 5 is going to stitch everything together. They are factions out there trying to stop these all female demon cultists. So it will be interesting to see, they definitely won't do action, but it will definitely be a new tone in the series.

3 > MO > 1 > 2 > 4 Hopefully 5 keeps the footage idea simple. PA4's family with a million laptops seemed a bit contrived and kind of distracting.

Yeah, but some families have excessive amounts of electronics. But i agree, it was almost like they were part of a web series.. I truly like the night vision/Xbox 360 infrared effect, where the boy is staring at the demon, and you see its figure... so cool!Marked Ones was the best next to the 1st film

The Paranormal Activity series is frankly the best horror series of films I've seen in a long time and am glad they are keeping the momentum going. The people that give this constant flack I bet don't even know what real horror is, and I bet most of them never saw the films so who are they to judge something they never saw. If PA came out in the 80s or 90s it would have been a huge hit but you get something like this coming out today and no one wants it why? Is it because the horror genre has already been battered and exposed of it's constant tired cliches? I guess you can say then if that's your point a film like Psycho is not original because it has a psychotic lunatic as the main villain. Like what PA series is doing it sticks to it's own theme which is and does revolve around the paranormal and I applaud them for doing so.

I agree... I also like VHS viral - where the other 2 films were random horror stories like Tales from the Crypt.. Viral focuses on demonic presences. So each story is based around Satanism ... its awesome.. best horror film of 2013 and 2014 with Marked Ones right next to it, and "Wer" if you can get your hands on it, is a amazing French Werewolf movie, thats on par with some of the best werewolf movies to date..

I really don't understand why anyone liked the marked ones. I loved the first 3 and 4 was pretty bad, but I felt the marked ones was just garbage until the twist at the end. Really wish I liked it more. Will continue to see them in theaters though!

Wow... 4 and Marked ones were best... the fact that you could see the demonic spirit in the infrared Xbox 360 lighting using night vision mode on your camera from a technical perspective is amazing.. i will admit the first one was the best, but Marked Ones did what the first one but even went further, by having the mind fuck twist at the end" SPOILERS : That in a possessed or cursed house, you can time travel to other cursed places... thats Poltergeist/Insidious elements that i truly loved... I think the series is still going strong, the third movie was the most confusing, 2 was just a copy of the first... serious the ladder 2 films are some of the best horror.

I think they've just switched to subtitles. Silly move in my opinion.
