Paul Greengrass May Direct Hill & DiCaprio's Olympic Bombing Drama
Back towards the beginning of the year, we learned that The Wolf of Wall Street stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill would team up again for The Ballad of Richard Jewell, a story based on a Vanity Fair article about the security guard who discovered an explosive laden backpack at the 1996 Olympics compound in Atlanta and cleared bystanders, only to be turned on when he was labeled a potential suspect three days after being called a hero. The film is set up at 20th Century Fox and now Deadline reports United 93 and The Bourne Ultimatum director Paul Greengrass is circling the director's chair. More below!
The project would reteam Greengrass with his Captain Phillips screenwriter Billy Ray, who has already adapted the 1997 article by Marie Brenner, and would make for quite the Oscar contender when the time comes. As previously reported, Hill would play the lead role of Jewell while DiCaprio would play a Southern attorney who only knew the man casually, but ended up helping him get through this strange and tumultuous time in his life, surviving the insane news coverage and legal nightmare that lasted three months. If all these pieces come together, we should be in for a fantastic story.

This is one of the truth is stranger than fiction stories. It should make for a great film.

1. Mount camera on rubber bands. 2. Shake camera until arms are numb. 3. Check dailies to make sure everyone vomits while watching. 4. Profit.
