Phil Lord & Chris Miller

Though directing duo Phil Lord & Chris Miller won't be returning to direct The LEGO Movie 2, they were previously confirmed to produce the film that will be helmed by the first film's behind the scenes co-director Chris McKay. Now Deadline has word that Lord & Miller will be a little more involved with the sequel because Warner Bros. has also signed them on to write the film. That's the best way to ensure the brilliant creativity and originality that made the first film so great is still around in the sequel. Ever since the sequel was said to be in development, that was my biggest concern but now everything is awesome.

Remember, we just learned that The LEGO Movie sequel was pushed back to May 25th, 2018. And that's because the recently announced spin-off film focusing on Will Arnett as LEGO Batman will arrive on May 26th, 2017 now instead. But before all that, Warner Bros. will also release the Ninjago spin-off on September 23rd, 2016. So we're going to get a lot more LEGO movies on the big screen in the coming years. It's tough to say if they'll all be able to measure up to the quality of the first film, but if Lord & Miller end up consulting on the other films, then they should be fine.

Heroes. I've been watching their films again and they are just so watchable. Of course it would be better for them to direct, but this okay too!
