'Pride & Prejudice & Zombies' Lands Former 'Doctor Who' Matt Smith
The cast of the adaptation of Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, which much like the monsters in the period romance remix novel has refused to die, is already full of some great up-and-coming stars. Lily James, Sam Riley, Jack Huston, Bella Heathcote and Douglas Booth are all starring in the film from Igby Goes Down and 17 Again director Burr Steers. Now one more familiar face from across the pond has joined the cast, and any sci-fi fans who weren't interested in the project already might start paying attention. THR reports former "Doctor Who" star Matt Smith has landed a part in the horror comedy based on the popular novel.
For those who don't know, the film follows the Pride & Prejudice heroine Liz Bennett (James), who is pressured by her family to marry into a wealthy upper-class home and chafes at the stiff societal ways of 1800s England. But all that changes when she feels inclined to help defend the countryside against the onslaught of a horrifying zombie plague. Smith will play Mr. Collins, a parson who is on the lookout for a wife and proposes to Bennett. Smith might be on the verge of a big screen breakthrough since he also has a pivotal role in Terminator: Genisys, which is supposed to last through the trilogy. But we're wondering "Doctor Who" fans will turn out to see him in these big screen ventures.

Too little too late. This doesn't need to happen anymore.

I love zombie movies, but the book, Pride, Prejudice & Zombies was such a gimmick, and totally pointless, that I don't want to see this, and I wonder why they're even making it....

Zombies are so played out. It just seems pointless now.
