Quvenzhané Wallis Finds a Family in Second 'Annie' Remake Trailer
The remake of Annie is still quite some time away from hitting theaters just before Christmas, but with Maleficent hitting the big screen this weekend, it's the perfect time to get some more buzz. It looks like as hokey as the first trailer, but there's some new bits with Rose Byrne mocking Jamie Foxx for sounding like Batman. Cameron Diaz is being obnoxious, but not in a way that we're enjoying. This seems like a dud, but maybe fans of the musical will find this contemporary adaptation with Quvenzhané Wallis enjoyable. We still wish there was a much different spin on the music, but maybe there's more in store.
Here's the new trailer for Will Gluck's remake of Annie, originally from Yahoo:
Annie is directed by Will Gluck (Easy A) who also wrote the screenplay with Alice Brosh McKenna (We Bought a Zoo, The Devil Wears Prada) and Emma Thompson. Putting a modern spin on the classic musical, the film follows Annie, a young, happy foster kid who’s also tough enough to make her way on the streets of New York in 2014. Originally left by her parents as a baby with the promise that they’d be back, it’s been a hard knock life living under mean foster mom Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz). But everything’s about to change when New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks (Jamie Foxx) makes a thinly-veiled campaign move to take her in. Sony Pictures has slated the musical remake for release December 19th. Anyone like it?

I know it's not PC, but why not just call this movie Black Annie? Years from now, that's how everyone will refer to it anyway. And Cameron Diaz, please stop ruining potentially good movies by being in them.

nope. I was hoping Diaz was playing tongue firmly in cheek, but it's still painful to watch.
