Rob Lowe Signs Up for the Cast of Whatever 'Monster Trucks' Will Be
Earlier this year, the success of The LEGO Movie coupled with the long-running box office love of Transformers resulted in Paramount Pictures planning a live-action, CG hybrid film called Monster Trucks, based on the Hasbro toyline of the same name. Jane Levy (Evil Dead) and Lucas Till (X-Men: First Class) were added to the cast back in February, and more names have been surfacing since then, but we figured Deadline's reports that Rob Lowe was added to the action adventure film was reason enough to give a meatier update, even though we're not even sure what the hell this new hopeful franchise is about.
Since we don't have a plot for the film written by Jonathan Aibel & Glenn Berger (Kung Fu Panda, SpongeBob SquarePants 2), we're not sure what characters any of the cast members are playing. However, in addition to Levy, Till and Lowe, the cast also includes Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon), Amy Ryan ("The Office"), Thomas Lennon ("Reno 911"), Barry Pepper (Saving Private Ryan) and Holt McCallany (Bullet to the Head). So that's a weird assembly of talent. Ice Age director Chris Wedge is at the helm, and we really don't know what to expect from this film yet, but Paramount has set a May 29th, 2015 release date, so production will begin sometime soon and maybe we'll get some plot info. Thoughts?
