Robert De Niro & Bradley May Reunite with Jennifer Lawrence in 'Joy'
In both Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, director David O. Russell has found a great trio of talent in Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper. Now it sounds like he's going to round them all up again. We already know that Russell was reteaming with Lawrence for Joy, the film about Joy Mangano, who became one of the country's most successful entrepreneurs with the self-wringing floor cleaner known as the Miracle Mop. But in a recent chat with Go (via The Playlist), Russell revealed that he has hopes for De Niro to be in the film, and he's also created a role specifically for Cooper too. Read on!
Here's what Russell had to say about De Niro and Cooper maybe being in Joy:
"I think I’d very much like De Niro to be in it, I think he’s gonna be in it. And of course I always create a role for Bradley Cooper. I try to have things people have never done. Then they can get excited, and it’s exciting for audiences. That’s what makes it daring in some way."
For those who haven't kept up, the film will follow Joy Mangano from her days struggling as a single mother working three jobs to support her kids and finally caught a break with the Home Shopping Network sensation the Miracle Mop. The original script comes from Oscar nominee Annie Mumolo, who co-wrote Bridesmaids, but Russell has been working on a rewrite. We'd previously heard the film had been given a release on December 25th, 2015, but can Russell get the film done in the next year? It's not a film with a lot of special effects or anything, so it's not out of the question, but we'll see how it goes.
The golden team is back! Jennifer Lawrence is always a Joy to watch.
