Robert De Niro / Robert Pattinson

Following the debut of The Rover at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this month, Robert Pattinson is keeping his choices in new projects interesting. Deadline has word that the breakout star of The Twilight Saga will continue to distance himself from tween romance with Idol's Eye. The film comes from Olivier Assayas, who is coincidentally also coming off the Cannes debut of his film Clouds of Sils Maria, starring Kristen Stewart. In addition, Pattinson will have some good company as Robert De Niro has just joined the cast of the film, though the plot is currently being kept under wraps with no details available. Read on!

As of now, we only know Idol's Eye will be "a sophisticated heist action-thriller" which sounds interesting for both Pattinson and De Niro. The former has had a much more praiseworthy and interesting run of projects, but maybe the latter will find a rare good project in the late years of his faltering career that has been full of terrible comedies and hollow dramas and thrillers with few gems in between. The film will start shooting this fall in Chicago and Toronto, so stay tuned for anymore updates with new information.

So exciting. I'm continually impressed with Pattinson's career moves, and I think he and De Niro will make a good team with Assayas.

Let's hope for DeNiro to return to form and less by-the-numbers stuff.
