Following an armed and dangerous first look last week, the first trailer for Luc Besson's return to directing action thrillers has arrived. Lucy follows a woman accidentally caught in a dark deal who turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic. Scarlett Johansson plays the title role, and she truly looks like one tough chick. The film is basically Limitless, but with an emphasis on accessing the maximum physical capabilities of a human in addition to the mental (as explained by Morgan Freeman). Besson knows how to do action pretty well, and this looks fun. Watch!
Here's the first trailer for Luc Besson's Lucy, originally from Apple:
Lucy is written and directed by Luc Besson (director of The Fifth Element and The Professional, writer of the Taken and Transporter franchises). The film follows a woman (Scarlett Johansson) forced to become a drug mule. But rather than just carrying the drug, it enters her system and turns her into a lethal vixen who can absorb knowledge with ease, move things with her mind, see into the future, and doesn't feel any pain at all. Morgan Freeman also stars in the film Universal Pictures sends to theaters on August 8th. Excited?

Uh oh...the armchair brain experts will be here soon to debunk the 100% brain unlocking thingy. I think this looks awesome. Always have been fascinated with telekinesis so I'm in.

Ha! Good call on the debunk comment.

will watch any Besson movie. This also has the original OldBoy. Min-sik Choi's quite a great actor.

Doesn't look a very strong performance on Johansson's part, but overall looks fun! I'll see it.

I got a kind of Limitless vibe here...

Same here. Limitless meets Ultra Violet or something rather. So what happens when she maxes out? She takes the SAT's and passes it?

I can't wait! I'm just unsure about the whole chameleon thing with her eyes and hair, but I love the telekinetic aspect of this movie.

Could be good. I'm happy to see Scarlett in every movie these days. Also like all the Asian actors and settings.

Ugh...I'm so sick of this "only use 10% of the brain" nonsense. It's not even close to be being true. Not even 10% true.

You, sir, are enlightened. That 10% premise bugs the Jesus out of me...

I would suggest you look up some MRI data on what areas light up in the brain during cognition . and then realize the reacting areas are SMALL parts of ur brain . Scientists say that because they donlt know WHAT the unused parts of the brain do ....
Dominic on Apr 2, 2014

*sigh. This myth has been debunked repeatedly already. True, certain areas are more active than others during said cognition, but the entire brain is fully active throughout the day; each part carrying out a whole host of functions besides active cognition (e.g. respiratory system). Regardless, the movie still looks like fun.
Dan Fiedler on Apr 2, 2014

EVERY part , and constantly the WHOLE day ? also my point was even if there is small activity , Scientists have no correlation to what happens in ALL those active areas . Once you eliminate aural and visual procesing some of the hindbrain and forebrain reactions , there are relatively vast areas people know nothing of
Dominic on Apr 2, 2014

Hm. Pretty sure I never said "constantly" or "whole day."...let me see...yup!
Dan Fiedler on Apr 2, 2014

Dominic you are proof that some of us indeed only use 10% of brains.

Yeah script writers need to come up with something different because that idea is super repetitive.

I know some people will still believe what they want to believe because the myth or conspiracy is sexier than the truth, but sorry, facts are facts. Here's just one link from a reputable source with the truth of the matter: http://goo.gl/QadgZM Here's a short excerpt if you aren't in the reading mood: "Though an alluring idea, the "10 percent myth" is so wrong it is almost laughable, says neurologist Barry Gordon at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore"

So , is ScarJo the new official action hero(ine , if u wish ) of Hollywood ? Makes sense in the fact that all the men are pretty old ( maybe not Statham ) for these roles . They need a farm system for action heroes lol. . til then ride the young female hero character ...

if so , I'd like to see somebody reprise Dark Angel , Jessica Alba's od series .. her name gets that financed and they might just be able to weave her into one of the comic book movie universes

I gotta say I still feel like Blunt would've been a better casting choice for Black Widow.
