Scoot McNairy Taking 'Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice' Role

After starring in Non-Stop earlier this year, and having a small role the Best Picture winner 12 Years a Slave last year (not to mention Oscar winner Argo the year before), character actor Scoot McNairy is stepping into comic book territory. Deadline has word that the star of Monsters and Killing Them Softly is taking a role in the DC Comics blockbusters Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. However, the actor's role is being kept under tight wraps for now, so we don't know if he's playing a character who has roots in the DC Comics universe, or someone created just for the film like Christopher Meloni's character in Man of Steel.
We wouldn't count on McNairy taking of the remaining hero roles in Justice League since he doesn't really seem like a good choice for The Flash or Green Lantern (or Nightwing if that character is in the mix), but maybe he's being lined up to play a villain who becomes more prominent in later films? McNairy is quite the chameleon, so whatever role he has, Batman v. Superman will be all the better for it, but all this secrecy seems unnecessary. Anyway, we'll probably learn more at Comic-Con this summer, so stay tuned to find out what comes out of San Diego next month.
