Steve Carell to Lead Disney's 'Brooklyn Family Robinson' Comedy
This year we'll see Steve Carell having some family fun in the Disney comedy Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. And it turns out that he might have an affinity for family friendly comedies at the studio as he's just signed up for another one. THR has word that Carell will star in and produce Brooklyn Family Robinson. Though the title takes a cue from Swiss Family Robinson, the film is based on an original idea by David Reynolds (Oscar nominated co-writer of Finding Nemo) and Carell's Carousel Productions producing partners Charlie Hartsock and Vance DeGeneres. So what's it about?
Well, plot details are vague "in order to protect the project's secrets," but the film will follow the father of a family (Carell) who takes his family from city life to island life. Could this be some kind of treasure adventure with a family? We're hoping it has some kind of fun angle like that since it's a family adventure comedy, but we hope that Carell isn't wasting his time. He has a lot of potential to be an even stronger leading man, especially with a promising turn in Foxcatcher later this year, and while we love his comedic side, we wish that he would make more adult comedies instead.

It sounds like he is making some safe choices here. I too wish he would go for the more dramatic stuff too.
