Though the horror franchises for The Conjuring and Insidious find themselves at Warner Bros. Pictures and Focus Features respectively, they still share producers in Blumhouse Productions and James Wan, who also directed the original films in each franchise. Now both horror sequels have new release dates. First, as we recently heard, Warner Bros. was able to coax James Wan into directing The Conjuring 2 again, which means the film wasn't going to meet the 2015 release date and would arrive sometime in 2016. Now, according to Box Office Mojo, the film has been set for release on June 10th, 2016. More below!
In addition, Insidious: Chapter 3 was previously slated to arrive at the end of May, but it has now been pushed back one week to hit theaters on June 5th, 2015. The newest chapter in the terrifying horror series is written and directed by franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell. This chilling prequel, set before the haunting of the Lambert family, reveals how gifted psychic Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) reluctantly agrees to use her ability to contact the dead in order to help a teenage girl (Stefanie Scott) who has been targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity. Watch the teaser trailer for the next chapter right here, and stay tuned.
If Insidious wants to survive in 2015 I think it should be in October... June is pretty bold isn't it?
