'The Conjuring' Spin-Off 'Annabelle' Arrives on October 3rd This Fall
by Ethan Anderton

Briefly: For those who may not know, Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema are expanding the world of The Conjuring, last year's horror hit from director James Wan, with a spin-off that focuses on the creepy doll in the possession of Lorraine and Ed Warren (played by Patrick Wilson & Vera Farmiga). The film is called Annabelle, and so far the only thing we know about the film is that The Conjuring cinematographer John Leonetti will direct the film with a script by Gary Gauberman. Otherwise, we don't know who will star or what the story will be. But now we know when the film will come out with the studio revealed an October 3rd release date, pitting it up against David Fincher's promising thriller Gone Girl. Stay tuned for more.

That seems kind of rushed.

Interesting. I think the last I heard, this was being heavily considered as a straight-to-Video release. Perhaps the final result is shaping up to be of a much higher quality than they anticipated and they are taking a chance on a theatrical release? This wouldn't be the first time, Disney's Planes comes to mind.

if ed and Lorraine warren are in it and played by Patrick Wilson & Vera Farmiga - i'll be taking a look. I thought Wilson and farmiga were excellent in "conjuring"

I know they mean for that doll to be creepy but I find it hilarious on a Mr Show level of comedy. I'm a big fan of horror, but I've yet to be able to take one of those James Wan films seriously.

I don't know, I'm usually very forgiving and very much in the right frame of mind when it comes to watching horror but something about his work just comes off flat to me every time.
