Viola Davis / Amanda Waller

The cast of Suicide Squad was officially confirmed at the beginning of the month with Jared Leto as the Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Tom Hardy as Rick Flag, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress. But that's only our heroes. What about their overseers? Well, after names like Oprah Winfrey an Octavia Spencer were said to be in contention for the role of prison warden Amanda Waller, Latino Review is reporting that Viola Davis (Ender's Game, The Help) is taking the role of a former congressional aide and government agent placed in charge of the Suicide Squad, a semi-secret government-run group of former supervillains working in return for amnesty. More below!

However, it doesn't entirely seem like a done deal as the report says the part goes to Davis only if the filmmakers can work with her schedule on the hit new show "How to Get Away with Murder." But if Davis does end up able to work it out with her schedule, then she will be a great fit for the part. Of course, there's a part of me that would have loved to see someone like Oprah Winfrey get in on a part like this in a DC Comics movie. Anyway, we'll accept this as real casting for now, but we'll keep our ears open to see if Davis ends up falling away from the role due to her previous commitments. Thoughts?

Damn, the cast for this movie is insane. Hope it comes out as great as it is on paper.

Ah that is a good choice. O would have been perfect as well. But Davis is tack sharp. Her performance in DOUBT was unforgettable.
