Walt Disney Animation Brings Back 'Frozen' Characters in 2015 Short

September 3, 2014

Last night, ABC acknowledged all the love that has sprouted for Walt Disney Animation's hit musical Frozen by debuting a TV special “The Story of Frozen: Making an Animated Classic," taking a look behind the scenes of the film featuring the voices of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad. And Disney also revealed that all four of the main characters brought to life by those respective actors would return in Frozen Fever, a new short film debuting in the spring of 2015 and reunites directors Jennifer Lee & Chris Buck and songwriters Robert Lopez & Kristen Anderson-Lopez. Read on!

The short will feature a new original song, but we're not sure what Anna (Bell), Elsa (Menzel), Kristoff (Groff) and Olaf (Gad) will be doing in this short film. We suppose this is the fastest and most efficient way to respond to the massive success that Frozen brought Disney, but we wouldn't rule out an eventual big screen sequel. If there's one thing Disney can't resist, it's a successful new franchise. After all, they're already milking this cash cow by having Elsa show up on the ABC fairytale adventure series "Once Upon a Time." Disney wasn't specific with a release date, but the short will probably debut in front of Cinderella, since the studio sends that film to theaters on March 13th next spring.

While my son & I loved "Frozen", and I'm looking forward to see how they use Elsa & co in OUAT, I'm not sure there's a lot there for a sequel.

Definitely agree, Tangled was way better.

Ehhhhh...may be not WAYYY better, but I agree TANGLED was a bit better. Both were no ENCHANTED. That was a grand film.

Just about getting the songs out my head, I think those were better written than the film. At least in a way they dig themselves in your brain with metal spikes kind of way.
