In just four days, audiences will see the unique building blocks of The LEGO Movie come together thanks to the minds of directors Phil Lord & Chris Miller. So far the buzz has been great with a variety of critics calling the film original, funny and offering proof that not every film based on established intellectual property has to be without creativity. And just as Lord & Miller's take on Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs inspired a sequel last year, Warner Bros. is already developing a sequel to The LEGO Movie with The Internship and Mr. Popper's Penguins scribe Jared Stern hired to write the animated follow-up. Read on!
Stern's previous work doesn't inspire a lot of confidence, but Lord & Miller seem to have crafted a world that has limitless possibilities, much like the toy that inspired the film, so hopefully there's still some magic Stern can create. Lord & Miller wrote and directed the first film which arrives in theaters on Friday, and The Wrap says it has a good chance at beating out George Clooney's The Monuments Men at the box office. As for where the story might go, we'll have to wait and see, but you can have your guesses after you see The LEGO Movie this weekend. Sound good?

"...offering proof that not every film based on established intellectual property has to be without creativity." And then...sequel. Still it is good news.
