MOVIE TRAILERS
Watch: Christian Bale Gets Biblical in 'Exodus: Gods & Kings' Trailer

"Let's just see who's more effective at killing. You or me." Following some new first look images featuring Christian Bale as Moses and Joel Edgerton as Ramses II (with plenty of orange on his body), and some pretty disappointing teaser posters earlier today, the first trailer for Exodus: Gods & Kings has arrived. Director Ridley Scott has struggled to reclaim greatness for years now and we're not sure this is going to do it. The film just feels like an expensive stage play, with Bale and Edgerton both looking silly. The scope and production value is there with stunning visuals, but for some reason the film feels dated and unexciting.
Here's the first trailer for Ridley Scott's Exodus: Gods & Kings, in high def from Apple:
Check out the first questionable teaser posters with Christian Bale and Joel Edgerton right here.
Exodus: Gods and Kings is directed by Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Robin Hood, Alien, Blade Runner) and written by Adam Cooper & Bill Collage (Tower Heist, Accepted), with a rewrite by Steve Zaillian (American Gangster, Moneyball, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). The film follows Christian Bale (The Dark Knight, Out of the Furnace) as Moses, chronicling the Biblical figures life from his adoption by Egyptian royals through his revolution against Pharaoh Ramses II (Joel Edgerton). Aaron Paul, Ben Kingsley, John Turturro and Sigourney Weaver. 20th Century Fox will release the film just before Christmas on December 12th.

I dunno. I used to say in Ridley we trust but...lots of obvious CGI. Still. It has potential...

I think Ridley is amazing at directing CGI. I agree prometheus wasnt his strongest film, but visually it was a contender for my favorite of the year. Absolutely beautiful. Im hoping this is the same, at least on that front.

Not sure if I agree with your assessment Ethan. Looks pretty incredible to me so far! That last shot is a beauty. I'm excited for this big time.

Um, thanks? Try the veal? I'm here til Tax extension day? My point is they will obviously add to, take away from, or otherwise modify the Word. You're better off reading the bible than watching any movie based on anything from it's pages.

This is 2014 but yet Hollywood still hasn't figured out how to properly cast a movie about Egyptians! Joel Edgerton as Ramses! Are you kidding me??smh!!!
Rage72 on Jul 8, 2014
13
who should they cast....a modern day Egyptian actor??! You realize modern day ppl actually specifically from that region look different than their ancestors?? So that still would be miscasting if ur basing it on looks....such a tired arguement
desispeed on Jul 9, 2014

You just answered your own question dumbass!!This movie is supposed to historically portray how Moses and especially Ramses looked back then, in which would make them ancestors right? piss off you dumbass!
Rage72 on Jul 9, 2014
15
historical? haha what history book were you reading that talked bout Moses and Ramses ?? Your ancient ancestors don't look like you today genius...actual modern day Egyptians have no connection to the ancient Egyptians in culture, religion, and definitely complexity!!....sounds like you have less than zero understanding about the subject and are just whining

You incredibly small minded little shit... This movie is supposed to historically portray how Moses and especially Ramses acted and behaved back then. With family and politics. Not how they fucking looked and what kind of makeup they bought from Sephora.

Shut the fuck up you piece of shit! We're talking about how outrageous it is in 2014 to have whites playing Egyptians! Nobody asked for your opinion, so go suck your mother!

Lord knows that I'm a Christian Bale fan, but I thought in 2014, that Hollywood was brave enough to have a biblical movie, without having to cast white actors in the main roles. Apparently all of the Egyptians in ancient art, were just white people wearing darker skinned makeup.

Aussies and Brits playing Egyptians? LOL. Guess it was the same for Gladiator and that turned out pretty good. I'll probably check this out.

I saw this movie like 15 years ago, back when I found out Val Kilmer and Sandra Bullock were Egyptian. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120794/?ref_=nv_sr_2

Ridley Scott hasn't made a good movie in a really long time.

I can't really remember the last recent film he has made I really have liked. Prometheus was an absolute mess but I blame the script rewrite on that. He still holds some of his great skills when it comes to directing and visuals, but you know things aren't always perfect forever. He had his days. Even if you look at his filmography it's kind of a bit uneven. Sure he did have some classics under his belt but were talking Alien and Blade Runner old.
Stephen Ritchie on Jul 8, 2014

Gladiator isn't that old and should be viewed as one of his best.

Gladiator and Black Hawk Down are I think his best films, I love them. But The Counselor, Prometheous, Robin Hood, and Kingdom of Heaven have caused me to lose faith in Ridley Scott. I think he has lost his touch.

Yeah there seems to be something missing in those films. I actually really like KoH, but Robin Hood was lacking for sure, though had so much potential.

IMO, Scott is still an incredible director. I wasnt sold on Prometheus entirely either, but with the script he was using, as a director I thought he did a pretty stand up job, and the guy clearly knows how to make a SFX driven film absolutely stunning. Honestly, with even a C- script, if the visuals and soundtrack are as mesmerizing in the feature as they are in this trailer, itll be a win for me.

Looks kind of awesome. With Scott directing, you know it'll be a shortened version. Not sure if I'd rather just wait for the director's cut. Hmm...

This looks like a bomb. He needs to rock the Prometheus and Blade runner sequels to make up for the questionable calls he's made in the last little while.

I genuinely thought that I could get/see past it, but the second I saw Edgerton I turned off. I understand artistic license, cinematic portrayal and all of that, but man... surely you could get Egyptian, Coptic, North African or even Persian extras and actors for more roles? I really like Edgerton as an actor (his work in Warrior gets no-where-near enough love), but he looks a little silly...

Last good movie Ridley Scott did was Kingdom of Heaven. The only way to see that film is the Director's Cut. First Darren Aranofsky's Noah, now Ridley Scott's Exodus. Well it has Christian Bale in it, so I'm down.
