Watch: Fanmade Trailer Follows Complete Journey of 'The Hobbit'

The Hobbit: The Complete Journey

"I'm not the same hobbit I once was…" Though we've already featured an official retrospective trailer that looks at the entire Middle-Earth legacy that has spanned The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogy adaptations, one fan decided to focus only on the journey of Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman/Ian Holm). Los Angeles-based editor Joel Walden has crafted a trailer for The Hobbit: The Complete Journey, which treats the entire trilogy as a single epic film. Obviously, it's pretty heavy on footage from An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug, so we'd like to see an updated version once The Battle of the Five Armies is available on home video to make more footage available to throw in the mix. Watch below!

Here's the fanmade trailer for The Hobbit: The Complete Journey (via SlashFilm):

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit… J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, being directed by Peter Jackson as three separate movies, is set in Middle-Earth 60 years before Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, which Jackson and his filmmaking team brought to the big screen in a trilogy ten years ago. The films, with screenplays by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson, were shot consecutively in 48FPS 3D using the latest cameras. The Hobbit follows the journey of Bilbo Baggins, played by Martin Freeman, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor. The Battle of the Five Armies arrives in theaters in HFR, IMAX & 3D on December 17th later this year. It all ends in December - see you then.

While I'm not sure about LOTR, I'd love to see The Hobbit in one complete film. As someone who never read the books, the story of getting the dwarves' home back didn't seem to be worth three films. Especially following Rings, which story aside were just done much better.

Nicely done.

Watching this little project got me pumped up to see the final(?) chapter of PJ's work. I need to see the EEs of the Hobbit and Smaug before the 17th...I haven't yet and don't want to watch the LOTR trilogy unless it's extended, so I'm assuming these are great.

I wasn't very interested in seeing any of these, as much as I loved the Lord Trilogy. I guess I felt "dwarfed out". But this really piqued my interest. I'm all in!
