Watch: New Featurettes Explore the Legacy & Creatures of 'Maleficent'

May 7, 2014

Following a small batch of new posters, a few featurettes for Disney's fantasy Maleficent have surfaced. They're all pretty brief, but one dives into the creatures of this magical kingdom, including the shape-shifting Diaval (Sam Riley). There's also some new footage of some of the other forest creatures who come to fight with Maleficent. In addition, there's a discussion with Angelina Jolie about the legacy of the villainess and also more of the drum-beating for people to understand that this Disney sorceress is just misunderstood with a complicated past. Can A Million Ways to Die in the West compete? We'll see. Watch!

Here's the brief pod featurettes for Robert Stromberg's Maleficent from Disney Malaysia:

And here's a longer featurette with Angelina Jolie straight from Walt Disney Pictures:

Robert Stromberg (a production designer on Alice in Wonderland and Avatar) is making his directorial debut with Maleficent from a script written by Linda Woolverton (The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast). Angelina Jolie plays the title villain from the classic Disney film Sleeping Beauty in this live-action spin that also stars Sharlto Copley (District 9), Elle Fanning (Super 8), Sam Riley (On the Road), Imelda Staunton (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix), Juno Temple (Atonement) and more. Disney sends Maleficent to theaters everywhere in 3D on May 30th, 2014 this summer. Visit the film's official website. Excited?

Apparently Disney makes cheese by recycling old stories. This looks lame. (Bait dropped)

TheOct8pus on May 8, 2014

@TheOct8pus:disqus It doesn't look lame at all. It looks really great. It looks better then other recent live action Disney movies that have been released in recent years, such as Alice in wonderland, Oz: the Great and Powerful, etc.

Bait taken!! Sorry Sean, that was too easy

@TheOct8pus:disqus No Oct8pus, I didn't post my reply to you in regards to the 'bait dropped' B.S. you mentioned. I was replying to you because you're just wrong. As I said before, this movie does look better then Disney movies released in recent years, such as Alice in Wonderland, and Oz: The Great and Powerful.
