The Purge 2: Anarchy

"This won't bring him back." While the teaser trailer for The Purge: Anarchy only showed us Zach Gilford and Kiele Sanchez trapped in the city when the 12-hour crime spree begins, this new full theatrical trailer paints a better picture with more characters. It looks like this stranded couple will end up getting saved by Frank Grillo, a distressed man who uses The Purge to take out his frustrations on bad guys as penance for his dead son. He's like The Punisher of The Purge, and that's pretty bad ass. This one definitely widens the scope from the first film, which didn't take full advantage of the great concept. Watch!

Here's the full theatrical trailer for James DeMonaco's The Purge: Anarchy from Universal:

The Purge: Anarchy is written, directed and produced by James DeMonaco, the filmmaker behind the 2013 thriller The Purge. In this follow-up, a couple (Zach Gilford and Kiele Sanchez) finds themselves stuck in chaos on the streets in the middle of The Purge, the 12-hour period when all crime is legal. Frank Grillo and Michael K. Williams ("The Wire") also star in the film from Paranormal Activity and Insidious producer Jason Blum and Universal Pictures is slated to release the film on July 18th this summer. Excited yet?

Actually, he looks like Frank Grillo has a specific target, i.e. the man who killed his son.

So glad they are moving away from the whole at-home-slasher-flick scenario into "what happens to the citizens who are stuck on the streets?" thing.

Loool, no wonder the world is fucked up. These movies make the world a much worse place to live in.

This is one of the stupidest comments i've ever seen..

it's a freaking movie

No disrespect but it seems u don't know how to separate fantasy from reality

Steve Shreve on Apr 22, 2014

This is what people were expecting to happen in the first movie

Grillo for Punisher.

Carlo on Mar 27, 2014

I second that casting choice! Or Christian Bale.

SkyNet300 on Mar 28, 2014

I'd love this, but Grillo's already Crossbones in the new Captain America film. Get Josh Brolin as The Punisher.

thejon93rd on Mar 28, 2014

Well Chris Evans was The Human Torch and now he is Captain America, so I see no reason why Grillo can't be both... Don't know who has The Punisher rights at the moment, but if and when they make a new one. I hope they make it R-rated, eventhough that didn't help Warzone...

Enola on Mar 28, 2014

The problem with that is now Punisher movie rights have gone back to Marvel, which means if they make another Punisher movie, it'll arguably exist in the same universe as Cap, which already features Grillo as Crossbones.

ASFan on Mar 28, 2014

That would make it harder, but I don't see The Punisher making friends with the other Marvel characters in the movie universe. To me he just wouldn't fit into what they are doing with the other characters right now. He is too hardcore...

Enola on Mar 28, 2014

This is what the first film should have been. I'm pumped for this.

SkyNet300 on Mar 28, 2014

Frank Grillo could be cast as anything and I would watch it. That guy can act!

Sara on Mar 28, 2014

Would have liked to have seen a bit more single minded revenge. It's never done as well as it could be.

Payne by name on Mar 28, 2014

I hardly saw any real hints of anyone out for revenge in that trailer, all I saw was a group of people trying to survive.

LyonsMG on Mar 28, 2014

Yes, you're right. It looked like he was on the way to do some bad stuff and then a movie load of running away from bad guys.

Payne by name on Mar 28, 2014

They should do one where the protagonist is dead set on his path for vengeance and uses extreme methods to take out the group that killed someone close to him. But a twist is that the group he/she goes after is connected to certain powerful people, some people responsible for the inception of the Purge. So we get a little backstory of the Purge. So it would be a revenge movie and a political thriller as well.

ASFan on Mar 28, 2014

I don't think that he is taking his frustration on bad guys. I saw him looking at a target... so... i think he's a hunter... that's explain why he didn't wanted to get envolved with the two ladies on the trailer

ANOTHERDUMUSER on Mar 28, 2014

The end with the bidding had a Bioshock feel to it, looks good!

Philip J. Fry on Mar 28, 2014

Looks to be better than the first!

Nielsen700 on Mar 28, 2014

Already Better than disappointing first part. And Yeah, Grillo is Punisher!
