Premiering tonight at the Sundance Film Festival is the highly anticipated sequel The Raid 2, subtitled Berandal, which takes place two hours after the ending of The Raid. This badass martial arts Indonesia-set film looks like it might be packed with more insanely awesome action than the first movie, but hopefully the story is interesting as well. The running time of the film is 148 minutes and it was just finished over the weekend, with director Gareth Evans putting on the final sound mixing touches before bringing it straight to the film festival. Catch this kick ass new theatrical trailer and watch for the reviews to arrive tonight. Enjoy!
Here's the full theatrical US trailer for Gareth Evans' The Raid 2, originally from Yahoo:
The Raid 2: Berandal, the sequel to The Raid from 2011, is both written and directed by Welsh filmmaker Gareth Evans who also directed the first film. Starring Iko Uwais, Arifin Putra, Alex Abad, Oka Antara, Tio Pakusadewo, Julie Estelle, Cecep Arif Rahman, Cok Simbara, Yayan Ruhian, Matsuda Ryuhei, Endo Kenichi, and Kitamura Kazuki, the film features our lead character Rama (Uwais) going undercover and infiltrating the ranks of a ruthless Jakarta crime syndicate in order to protect his family and uncover the corruption in his own police force. The film premieres at Sundance, and Sony Pictures Classics will release March 28th.

I hope the music in the film is good - it's not done by Shinoda any more though..

I was an eager participant in seeing The Raid and though it was good, it did get a little bogged down in the middle. I liked the fighting though it still didn't reach the heights of Tony Jaa. I'd certainly give The Raid 2 a go though I'm a little concerned about such a long running time.
