Watch: Impressive Fan Film 'Spawn: The Recall' from Michael Paris
"You are lucky I found you first, child." Catch this dark, impressive fan film from Michael Paris. While there has been some talk of another Spawn movie in development, we haven't seen anything actually come together in years. There hasn't been anything since the Spawn movie from 1997 with Michael Jai White that most people despise. Paris decided to make his own Spawn film and the result is "The Recall", set mostly inside of a grocery story with some really cool scenes. It's impressive work for a fan film and shows just how much potential there is in great characters. Spawn fans will enjoy this the most, but it's entertaining for all.
Thanks to FS.net reader Ricardo for the tip on this short. Synopsis for Spawn: The Recall from YouTube: "The story of a former witch and her son, who try to live a normal life away from the darkness. While they're shopping in a supermarket, the child suddenly disappears. She starts looking for him, freaked out knowing evil forces are still lurking… She can sense it, they are here…" The short film is directed by Michael Paris, starring Johanna Genet, Tom Maurice, Gregory Paris and J3.0 (voice), with music by James BKS Edjouma. For more info or details on the making of the film, visit their official website or Facebook page. Thoughts?
God we need a new Spawn movie...

Hell yes! They should give SPAWN to ILM or WETA and the let them go sick. Any SPAWN film could make for one helluva visual effects test.

Sorry but, what the hell was that? It just seemed so random. I know it's a fan film but I've seen far better. If your going to do one about Spawn at least have SPAWN in it and not some random characters in the beginning we don't even care about. Like have Spawn fighting or something cool this is just meh boring. I like the effort they put into it but they could have done much more. If your doing something this short there is no need to create some story for it just have Spawn fighting or show off his powers or him doing some cool stuff, maybe if it was longer okay the story would have been fine but it's just like, there that's it. It's not impressive it's just "okay".

I like it better, its much more comic-focused, after Spawn has taken over hell and apparently lucifer is returning

Hmmm.. In perspective.. When was emperor palpatine best... when he was fighting or sitting in a chair being obnoxious.. I know.. Sitting in a chair being obnoxious. Did I like the change to a cartoon Yoda fighting maniac? Nope, I didn't.. Did I like the change of Spawn in this conceptual trailer? Yes I did. Because the story points at another part of the Spawn time-line, where Spawn is more powerful, and controls his powers with a much bigger authority...after the war..and the characters in the beginning.. I don`t think they are that random.. I think that woman is NYX or Volcanikka. I give kudos to the director for daring to show Spawn in this moody, arty way.. just to set some kind of ambiance to the universe .. The fighting jumping, doing stuff Spawn movie mistake was made in 1997, and boy did it suck. You are entitled to your opinion of course, but I think your criticism is a tad bit harsh and based on impulsive emotional outburst. 🙂 No offense.

This was fun but damn we need a new Spawn movie! Get the actor who played Prophet in the Crysis game franchise.

The visuals were amazing and i like the story concept of how it sets the stage. There were some odd camera angles and stuff that didn't really work (that shelf grating bit...?!) and the pacing was real choppy, but overall it was very good. If he's looking to get into visual effects; Done If he's looking to get into editing or diecting; Probably not

It's not Dirty Laundry but it's still good. Excellent.

a little bit boring just as the movie! Great special effects like the movie. But if you seen spawn way back in time it wasn't that awful onley the clown/troll ruined it...

I'm not a huge Spawn fan, but I think that, in a purely aesthetic sense, he's one of the most impressive characters in comics. And I like this artsy take of the character. For a fan-made short, this has some truly beautiful shots and special effects. The director did an amazing job! Thanks for publishing this 😉

Really well directed but it was kinda boring. Great visuals though. I always imagined Spawn sounded like Duke from the original GIJoe cartoon. Instead, I guess he sounds like a dude I'd never wanna have a conversation with. And that poor man's Noomi Rapace needs a mohawk if she's gonna play with fire like that.
