Watch: James Gunn, Chris Pratt & Marvel on 'Guardians of the Galaxy'
Though Marvel's cosmic superhero assembly of Guardians of the Galaxy doesn't hit until August, the comic studio knows that they still have to put some effort into convincing some of the more skeptical or uninterested general audiences of their cinematic universe to get unboard with a property they've never heard of. That's why this past weekend, AMC Theatres hosted a 30-minute chat with Marvel head Kevin Feige, director James Gunn and the film's star Chris Pratt to discuss the late summer release. It's not overwhelmingly informative since it's pretty early, but it's still pretty good to hear what they have to say.
Here's the full interview for Guardians of the Galaxy from AMC Theatres:
The most interesting part (via Collider) might be this little bit of info:
"It couldn’t be more distant in geography to the other films. 99% of this movie takes place on the other side of the galaxy. Nevermind the themes and character interaction… there are a handful of characters you’ll see in this movie who will carry through to other films as threats to Earth."

Guardians of the Galaxy is directed by James Gunn (Slither, Super). Brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits — Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand. The Marvel Studios film arrives in theaters August 1st, 2014.

Here's hoping they treat Quill's origin like a What If? fast-forward from Flight of the Navigator meets the Last Starfighter. That'd heighten the '80's feel they seem to be going for, & tap into a level of nostalgia that'd be (gulp) out of this world ~ =)

Feige seems like such a cool guy. I would love to talk to him and pick his brain a bit.
