Watch: Jason Schwartzman is a Bit of a Jerk in 'Listen Up Philip' Trailer
The last few films that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival are starting to hit theaters as fall comes upon us, and one of those films is Listen Up Philip. The film comes from The Color Wheel director Alex Ross Perry and follows Jason Schwartzman as the snobby, prickish title character, an author on the verge of publishing his second novel, bound to be a success. But his crumbling relationship with his girlfriend (Elisabeth Moss) and a lack of interest in playing ball with his publisher puts him in a position to spend some time with his idol (Jonathan Pryce). But that might not be all it's cracked up to be. This film is like Woody Allen meets Wes Anderson, but far more raw and definitely worth checking out. Watch now!
Here's the first trailer for Alex Ross Perry's Listen Up Philip, originally from Apple:
Listen Up Philip is written and directed by Alex Ross Perry (The Color Wheel). Anger rages in Philip (Jason Schwartzman) as he awaits the publication of his sure-to-succeed second novel. He feels pushed out of his adopted home city by the constant crowds and noise, a deteriorating relationship with his photographer girlfriend Ashley (Elisabeth Moss), and his indifference to promoting his own work. When Philip’s idol Ike Zimmerman (Jonathan Pryce) offers his isolated summer home as a refuge, he finally gets the peace and quiet to focus on his favorite subject — himself. Tribeca Film releases the film this fall on October 17th.
Swartzman plays a good a-hole. His humour always doesn't hit with me. But this looks pretty good.

if I compare it with all that's offered, this is still decent...
