Watch: Johnny Depp is a Moron in the Second Trailer for 'Mortdecai'

There's a moment in the second trailer for the art heist comedy Mortdecai where Johnny Depp, as the title character, sighs audibly out of exasperation. That's exactly how I feel when watching this latest tease for the film coming in February of next year. Honestly, I don't know how this movie got made. No, I haven't seen the film yet, so I'm not saying that because I know it's terrible. But I'm saying that because I have no idea who this film appeals to beyond people who will see anything that Johnny Depp appears in on the big screen. Maybe that's enough, but this trailer just looks like another Pink Panther remake to ignore. Watch!

Mortdecai is directed by David Koepp (Premium Rush, The Secret Window) and written by Eric Aronson, based on the anthology by Kyril Bonfiglioli. Juggling angry Russians, the British Mi5, his impossibly leggy wife and an international terrorist, debonair art dealer and part time rogue Charlie Mortdecai (Johnny Depp) must traverse the globe armed only with good looks and special charm in a race to recover a stolen painting rumored to contain the code to a lost bank account filled with Nazi gold. Gwyneth Paltrow, Ewan McGregor, Paul Bettany & Olivia Munn also star in the film which Lionsgate releases January 23rd, 2015.

In Pirates Johnny Depp famously aped Keith Richards. This time he does a Terry Thomas impression. He is a mimic, not an actor.

Judging by the trailer, this looks quite a funny movie. And Depp's character is like no character played before, no similarities at all with a pirate or what ever. If someone thinks that this character, as it at appears in a few minutes, is like others characters Depp played in the past, then he is wasting his time watching movies, he is wasting his time pretending he knows something about cinematic touch, when he has no clue. He knows shit, nothing, nada. And please, dear critic and all the beloved commentators, you can not have an entire picture of a movie by it's trailer. Sometimes a bad trailer hides a masterpiece, and sometimes a great trailer contains the only good lines in the whole movie...

This is a typical.. every so often.. a bunch of actors get together and do a movie for fun just because they can.. They aren't trying to make a hit or even money.. but there will be some who just love it no matter..
