"No matter who or what he is, he's after our bounty." Earlier today, a couple posters showed off an interesting marketing aesthetic for Jupiter Ascending, the latest original sci-fi film from Andy & Lana Wachowski at Warner Bros. Pictures. Now the second theatrical trailer has arrived, showing off more of the vast sci-fi universe the siblings have created for the film starring Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis. It looks pretty damn epic, giving the vibe of a blockbuster sci-fi fairytale, complete with cool weapons, weird alien creatures, and rocket boots. Plus Eddie Redmayne is having plenty of fun as the villain. Watch now!
Here's the new full trailer for the Wachowskis' Jupiter Ascending, straight from Warner Bros. Pictures:
Jupiter Ascending is written and directed by filmmaker siblings Andy Wachowski & Lana Wachowski, the duo behind Bound, the Matrix trilogy, Speed Racer and Cloud Atlas just last year. Official synopsis: In a universe where humans are near the bottom of the evolutionary ladder, a young destitute human woman is targeted for assassination by the Queen of the Universe because her very existence threatens to end the Queen's reign. The cast includes Sean Bean, Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth, James D'Arcy and Doona Bae. Warner Bros will open Jupiter Ascending in theaters everywhere July 18th this summer, right after Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Watch the original US trailer. "Some lives will always matter more than others."

The reporting of this movie from Ethan today has been incredibly inconsistent. His first article regarding the posters labelled them as "not all that convincing" which has now been upgraded to "interesting marketing aesthetic" and the film itself was described as "a lot of convincing to do in order to get butts in the seats" which he has suddenly changed his tune to "It looks pretty damn epic". Now I get that a new trailer can improve an opinion of a movie but in 1 day to seemingly have a complete change of opinion on it is pretty ridiculous.

First of all, the statements which are clearly my opinion isn't what you would call "reporting." Second, the posters themselves aren't convincing, but that doesn't mean they aren't interesting as an aesthetic choice for marketing the film. Interesting does not necessarily mean good. Therefore, they can be interesting, and yet not convince me, or more importantly a general audience, to see the movie. Second of all, the film still does have a lot of convincing to do to get butts in the seats, because it's strange and original. That doesn't mean I can't say the film looks epic judging by this trailer, which came after the aforementioned statement about the posters and general awareness/reception from the general audience. This was a vast improvement over the teaser trailer that really didn't do much for me, so that's why I changed my tune. Finally, yes, a single trailer can completely change your mind about a movie. For example, that's exactly what happened after I saw the trailer for The LEGO Movie. For Jupiter Ascending, my opinion didn't change as drastically, as I explained in rebuttal to your odd scrutiny, but I'm certainly more intrigued. Any other brain busters?

It's fine to explain your reasoning behind what made me question your articles with differing tones but to do so in such a childish manner is rather pathetic. Regardless of whether the piece includes your opinion you are still reporting on films. I think my comments are perfectly justified and not odd as you described. As a reader of the site that thought it was odd that you seemingly had vastly differing opinions of the same film, on the same day, why shouldn't I voice this? It seems as though people agreed with me that it was inconsistent too.

My gut tells me to file this in the "Cloud Atlas" section of movies. IE it will Suck but some people will says its epic and the rest of us didn't get it.

I thought Cloud Atlas was fantastic. But I don't think there was anything to "get". I just found it to be a thoroughly entertaining movie.

THE FIFTH ELEMENT-ish. They could have practically made this a reboot.

Visually, looks amazing. Hopefully the story will be strong enough. Also, I wonder how Sean Bean will die in this.

At the last minute of the movie the villain will have been "defeated" and all of a sudden he pops up and shoots Bean and kills him. Then the guy dies. Credits role

This is a far better trailer than the first one but...Damn the casting for the two leads is just awful. Screw it I'll see it but only because I like these directors...minus Speed Racer and Matrix 3.

Does this mean that Eddie Redmayne is the queen? Or can we assume we have yet to see the queen in the trailer. Because so far, the only person who wants Mila Kunis dead is Eddie.
