With the release of the documentary Bears just under a couple weeks away, Disneynature is already beginning to show off their Earth Day documentary release coming in 2015. This time the niche release arm of the House of Mouse is focusing on a group of monkeys in the jungles of South Asia in Monkey Kingdom. The film spotlights the competitive social hierarchy of the Temple Troop, a dynamic group of monkeys who live in ancient ruins found deep in the storied jungles of South Asia, alongside a rich cast of forest characters. More specifically, we follow a mother and her newborn as they struggle to survive. Watch!
Here's the teaser trailer for Disneynature's Monkey Kingdom, originally from Yahoo:
Monkey Kingdom is directed by Mark Linfield and Alastair Fothergill (both of Chimpanzee and Earth) and spotlights the gripping reality of a newborn monkey and its mother, struggling to survive within the competitive social hierarchy of the Temple Troop, a dynamic group of monkeys who live in ancient ruins found deep in the storied jungles of South Asia. Life is grand, food is plentiful and safety is assured if you're lucky enough to be born on the higher rungs of the Troop's social ladder. But this young mother and her infant find themselves in a constant state of hunger, dodging threats from higher-ranking monkeys determined to keep them on their assigned rung. Disneynature releases the documentary April 17th, 2015.
