There are some out there who spend thousands of dollars on an education at film school, but the world of motion pictures is a place full of wild success stories, and there's no correct way to follow your passion for filmmaking and no guaranteed path to success. Of course, that doesn't mean going to film school doesn't have it benefits, especially if you want to end up teaching at one of these schools of cinema yourself. While we don't believe the following video is a satisfactory replacement for the kind of education you'll get in film school, there's no doubt The History of Hollywood in Under 10 Minutes covers a lot of the basics, at least when it comes to the evolution of film as a medium and the world of show business. Watch it below!
Here's The History of Hollywood in Under 10 Minutes from CineFix (via SlashFilm):
Clearly, the video is informative, and acts as an abridged Wikipedia page on filmmaking, film school isn't just about learning these facts, milestones and names that have been important in building the world of cinema we know today. Film school also teaches students the fundamentals of getting behind a camera, writing a script, shooting a film, capturing sound, etc. And these schools aren't meant to guide artists as far as their style, but rather bolster their passion by giving them the tools and insight necessary to follow their dreams and become the filmmakers they hope to be. But at least this video could help you pass a test. Cool?
