After some first look photos surfaced last week, the first trailer for the crime thriller The Drop has arrived. Lonely bartender Bob Saginowski (Tom Hardy) runs a covert scheme of funneling cash to local gangsters through "money drops" in the underworld of Brooklyn bars. Under the heavy hand of his employer and cousin Marv (James Gandolfini), Bob finds himself at the center of a robbery gone awry and entwined in an investigation that digs deep into the neighborhood's past. This marks Gandolfini's last film, so seeing him the trailer is a little bittersweet, but Hardy takes the cake with an almost unrecognizable voice. Watch!
Here's the first trailer for Michaël R. Roskam's The Drop, originally from Apple:
The Drop (formerly Animal Rescue) is directed by Michaël R. Roskam and written by Dennis Lehane (based on his short story of the same name). The story focuses on Bob Saginowski (Tom Hardy), a former criminal trying to straighten out his life as the bartender along with his cousin Marv (James Gandolfini) at a place that also serves as a money drop for local gangsters. Bob's attempt at a normal life with a rescued pit bull puppy and his girlfriend (Noomi Rapace) falls apart when he finds himself in the center of a robbery gone wrong, committed by a thug (Matthias Schoenaerts). Fox Searchlight releases the film on September 19th.

This trailer should be "Must Watch" for many reasons, but especially for being Gandolfini's last film.

When I first heard about this project I thought it would be similar to Marley and Me...boy was I wrong. Looks like a perfect sendoff for Gandolfini.

I hope this is as good as it looks. It would be nice to know Gandolfini went out on a high note.

"Perhaps he's wondering why you would shoot a man before throwing him out of a plane" Yeah this look pretty damn good. Sucks they show Gandolfini getting shot in the car though...
