After the initial trailer for the indie thriller Blue Ruin debuted during Sundance, another tease from across the pond showed just enough of the film to get audiences interested. Now the full theatrical trailer for the release in the United Kingdom shows more of the story in the spectacular low key film from Jeremy Saulnier. This is a quiet, suspenseful flick that is anchored firmly by a breakthrough performance from Macon Blair. Blue Ruin is probably one of the most grounded, realistic thrillers I've ever seen, and easily one of the best of the past decade. It's a film worth going out of your way to see as soon as possible. Watch!

Blue Ruin is written and directed by the cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Jeremy Saulnier, of the film Murder Party and a few shorts previously. A peaceful vagrant (Macon Blair) finds his quiet life upended by dreadful news and sets off for his childhood home to carry out an act of vengeance. Since he is only an amateur assassin, he winds up in a brutal fight to protect his estranged family. This film first premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and also played at Austin, Chicago, Toronto and Fantastic Fest before showing up at the Sundance Film Festival this year. The film lands in theaters and VOD and on April 25th this spring.
