Which 80s Video Game Icons Will Attack Adam Sandler in 'Pixels'?

July 21, 2014

After a first look photo from the video game family adventure film Pixels arrived last week, we've got more news about the Columbia Pictures film from director Chris Columbus coming in 2015. As you know, the project starring Adam Sandler, Josh Gad, Kevin James, Peter Dinklage and Michelle Monaghan is based on a short film of the same name that follows an invasion of New York City by aliens in the form of 80s video game characters. However, due to the tricky licensing agreements, we weren't sure which video game characters were going to pop up in the film. Now the studio has revealed the video game invaders.

Here's the list of video game companies and their games that will appear in the film:

AtariĀ® Interactive: (Asteroids, Breakout, Centipede and Missile Command)
Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. (Frogger)
BANDAI NAMCO Games Inc. (PAC-MAN, Galaga and Dig Dug)
Nintendo (Donkey Kong)
Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. (Q*bert)
Taito Corporation (Space Invaders)
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (Joust, Defender, Robotron and Wizard of Wor)

And apparently the titles listed above might not be all the video game characters we'll see, and there's probably going to be some cool surprises, just like there were in Disney's Wreck-It Ralph. We wish that there were some images of these characters wreaking havoc on New York City, but the film is still about a year away, so it might be a little too early. But there's a chance that some more photos from the film might emerge when Comic-Con gets into full swing, especially since Columbia Pictures is sponsoring an arcade full of 80s video games at the convention in San Diego. Any other video games you want to see in Pixels?

Am surprised Space Invaders made it to the list when they are already making a Space Invaders movie. Oh and new Internet meme: ADAM SANLDERRRP!

Is this the live action reboot of a Futurama episode?

I'm sure this will go down a treat with today's generation who never played those games.
