Briefly: Just before we weekend, we learned that Universal Pictures and Legendary Pictures were shifting their action adventure Skull Island back to March 10th, 2017, and they had also changed the title to Kong: Skull Island. Now Deadline reports the film directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kings of Summer) and starring Tom Hiddleston has just gained a cast member in the form of J.K. Simmons, fresh off endless praise for his stirring turn in this year's Whiplash. No word on who he is playing, but the film has been said to focus on the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the treacherous, primordial island, so he's likely part of the team. Stay tuned for anymore details.

He's the man. Whiplash is brilliant. I don't care about the project, just wanted to say he's the man and Whiplash is brilliant.

Hell yeah! He is the perfect character actor for this kind of film. That voice.

Usually when you see actors on tv commercials like "state farm" you assume they're not getting any movie roles. It's great to see, that's not the case for JK. And I'm still hoping this movie takes place during the 1920's like Peter Jackson's Kong did and I hope they use a lot of the creatures and environmental design Jackson did
