January 22, 2014
Following his breakthrough big screen performance in Nebraska, which unfortunately didn't get an Oscar nomination, "Saturday Night Live" veteran Will Forte has another similarly dramatic comedy on the way. Run & Jump premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, and is hitting limited theaters and VOD this month. This time audiences will get to see Forte deliver another more dramatic performance in color. In the film, Forte plays an American doctor looking to document the recovery process of a woman (Maxine Peake) and her family as they deal with the patriarch of their family becoming mentally disabled after a stroke. Film Stage calls it "a film that will grow on you, slowly and subtly absorbing you into its world." Watch below!
Here's the first trailer for Steph Green's Run & Jump from IFC Films:
After a stroke leaves her husband mentally disabled, spirited Irish housewife Vanetia (Maxine Peake) struggles to keep her family together in the wake of tragedy. A research grant from American doctor Ted Fielding (Will Forte), interested in documenting the family’s recovery process, allows them to get by. Though Vanetia initially resents living under Ted’s microscope, she soon finds comfort in his calming presence, while Ted responds to Vanetia’s dynamic, unpredictable personality. As the two explore their bond in this unique situation, a new family begins to emerge. Run & Jump is directed by Oscar nominee Steph Green and written by Ailbhe Keogan. IFC Films releases in limited theaters and VOD on January 24th.
