Zoe Saldana, Elle Fanning & More Join Ben Affleck's 'Live by Night'
Before Ben Affleck took on the mantle of Batman for Warner Bros. and their comic book mash-up Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, he was slated to direct an adaptation of Dennis Lehane's Live by Night at the studio. But now that he's busy as the Caped Crusader, the film won't hit theaters until October 7th, 2016. Since that project is slowly getting closer, it's time to round up a cast, and Deadline reports Zoe Saldana, Elle Fanning and Sienna Miller are taking the female leads in the story set during the Prohibition Era of the 1920s. Could we be looking at the making of another Best Picture nominee again like Argo? Read on!
The story follows Joe Coughlin, a Boston police captain's son as he gets tempted away from the law to a life of crime and gets caught up in the escalating world of organized crime. Miller will play Emma, a love interest who catches Coughlin's eye at the beginning of the story, but he's playing with fire because she's the girlfriend of a big time mob boss. Meanwhile, Saldana will take the role of Graciella Suarez, a woman he meets later as he becomes involved in organized crime in Tampa and Fanning is Loretta Figgis, a sheriff’s daughter and aspiring actress who gets into trouble. This sounds like a pretty expansive crime thriller, ripe for Affleck to bring his directing talents to. Stay tuned for more.
Affleck hasn't directed a bad film yet...so I'm excited for this.
