Another 'Robin Hood' Movie in the Works and This Time It's Gritty

Hollywood just loves developing multiple versions of the same story about a certain figure at the exact same time, and right now the hot commodity is the heroic Robin Hood. Disney has a project in development called Nottingham & Hood from a spec script by Brandon Barker that is supposed to have the same tone and franchise hopes and Pirates of the Caribbean. Meanwhile, Sony Pictures picked up a Robin Hood pitch with multiple stories to make up a Sherwood Forest cinematic universe. Now Deadline reports Guy Ritchie's Knights of the Roundtable scribe Joby Harold is entering the mix with the gritty Robin Hood: Origins.
Obviously what we need is more gritty adventures, because there's not enough of that going around Hollywood. Details are scarce other than that generic, meaningless word used to describe movies nowadays, but Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way production banner is producing. Studios are circling the project now, and the source says there's even a chance that Sony might pick up the property and bring it into their developing project from Priest scribe Cory Goodman and up-and-coming writer Jeremy Lott. Either way, it sounds like we're getting some kind of new Robin Hood project in the next few years.

I never saw Russel Crowe as Hood, but that one was kinda dark wasn't it?

Yeah it's pretty gritty and an origins film. A bit flexible with history, but not a bad attempt IMO despite Crowe's accent and the Blanchet being able to use a longbow.

The weird thing about his accent is that it bounces all over the place, but each one sounds accurate to a specific UK accent... Just rewatched the first 15 min and I hear a north-east (newcastle area), south wales, east midlands (nottingham) and a fairly neutral/generic english accent, each in a different scene

I guess we should be happy he made the character truly British and covered every base.

haha, yeah. I have a feeling he might've picked up inflections from some of the native actors around him and that's why it's all over the place. Hell, I spent a month in Australia and came back to the UK sounding like an Aussie.

Yeah 3 Robin Hoods isn't that awesome, but just pick the one you're most interested into or just ignore them. As for me, I'll just stick with Disney and this cinematic universe idea for now.

Make it Dark Knight daaark. Turn the contrast way down. Like it's filmed during a solar eclipse.

Wasn't the last one supposed to be gritty? I would be down for another bow and arrow tale though. Guy Ritchie could make a hell of a fun film.
