Dakota Johnson, Alison Brie & Dan Stevens Know 'How to Be Single'
For those on the lookout for solid romantic comedies, it sounds like there's a new one in the works. After making a splash as one of the leads in Sleeping with Other People at Sundance last month (read my review here), "Community" star Alison Brie will star in the ensemble romantic comedy How to Be Single. Based on Liz Tuccillo's book of the same name, the film is said to be in the same vein as He's Just Not That Into You and Valentine's Day with a focus on the lives of several single people, offering perspectives on non-dating life from both the male and female perspectives. And the cast attached so far is pretty promising.
Brie has been circling the film since last year and is now in final negotiations to make it a done deal. In addition, THR reports the Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey), Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect), Leslie Mann (This is 40) and even Dan Stevens (The Guest) are boarding the project set up at New Line. They're likely just the first wave of talents migrating towards the film, and we should hear about more additions in the future. Christian Ditter (Love, Rosie) is directing the film with a script by Abby Kohn & Marc Silverstein, which has been rewritten by Dana Fox. The film is set for release on February 12th, 2016.
They should add Jason Sudeikis. And really think Dakota Johnson should be replaced. She is not a good actress and is miscast enough as Anastasia Steele.
