Director Brad Bird is Just Now Starting to Write 'The Incredibles 2'
Over a year ago, we got word that Pixar Animation was officially planning to make The Incredibles 2 after over 10 years of waiting (so far). However, director Brad Bird has been busy with this summer's sci-fi adventure Tomorrowland, so there hasn't really been any update on the progress of the film. Well, that changed recently when Bird was asked about the sequel while appearing on NPR (via The Playlist) , and his update was short and sweet, "I’m just staring to write it, so we’ll see what happens." That likely means he's just now starting to focus on the film full time, but has been thinking about and working on the idea awhile.
After all, as far back as May of 2013, Bird was asked about The Incredibles 2, before official plans were announced, and he said, "I've been thinking about it." So at the very least, it sounds like he's got some rough idea of what he wants to do with the superhero family. However, since this is a Pixar film we're talking about, you can bet we're still a few years away from seeing it released. My biggest question concerns whether real-time has passed since the last film, because now Violet and Dash would be 10 years older, making them adults. Anyway, it's early days on the project, so we'll see how it develops.

It's about time, Brad!! I would bet (as with any comic book) that the characters have not aged much. I'd say, just to make the baby a bit older, everyone has aged 3-4 years. Dash in high school, Violet in College etc.

I would be nice to have all the original cast come back too. Hoping they stick to that. Craig T. Nelson was perfect for that role.

So the release year would be close 2018-2019? Good thing there are many other Pixar films coming before that 😀
