Ed Skrein, Not Jason Statham, in First 'Transporter Refueled' Trailer

The Transporter Refueled

"People will always need guys like me, right?" Jason Statham is no longer The Transporter, and instead the franchise is going in a new direction with Ed Skrein as Frank Martin, the most skilled man in his dangerous profession, in The Transporter Refueled. Known to his employers only as "The Transporter," he will transport anything, no questions asked, always on time. Skrein is doing his best gruff, intimidating voice, but it comes off as a weak impersonation of Statham, and it just makes me miss him. All the ridiculous action is here, but without Statham, this just feels like a terrible straight-to-DVD sequel. Watch?

Here's the first trailer for The Transporter Refueled, originally from Apple:

The Transporter Refueled

The Transporter Refueled is directed by Camille Delamarre (Brick Mansions) and written by Bill Collage & Adam Cooper (Exodus: Gods & Kings, Tower Heist). This time, it's Ed Skrein ("Game of Thrones") inheriting the action franchise as Frank Martin, the most highly-skilled transporter money can buy. The stakes are greater and technology better, but the same three simple rules apply: never change the deal, no names and never open the package. Ray Stevenson, Loan Chabanol, Radivoje Bukvic, Gabriella Wright, Anatole Taubman and Tatiana Pajkovic all star in the film which Europa Corp. releases on June 19th.

I love that this exists, because it allowed Game of Thrones to get an actual actor to play Daario.

I like J. Statham more ... I don't know, he's more a man. This guy has the voice, but, I don't know about anything else... Of course, girls are also nice, but, haven't they always been..?

shiboleth on Mar 19, 2015

this guy has the voice, but he doesn't have the accent, neither the poker face look of a strong man who has been through a lot. He looks so fake.

I think the Transporter brand was pretty much based on Statham, but this looks about as good as any of them. Got the great foreign locations, looks like some good stunt driving and fights with 1 guy vs several. Even got a Transporter 2 style idiotic stunt that will make sure things stay stupid 🙂

At least they are trying new characters in the franchise, looks the same if you ask me without Jason trying to milk the brand for more money.

Someone will like it. But without Pierre Morel or Louis Leterrier, these franchises always fall off.

The stench of failure.

This doesn't look worse that the first Transporter to be fair. But Statham made that first movie better, he was that character. Didn't like any of the sequels.

I believe the scene with the three ladies is a callback to the first Transporter. And had the Transporter been like the first scene, I would have like it more. This one will be for a lazy hungover Saturday morning.

I can understand why he left the small role in GoT for this but unfortunately this looks bad. It looks as bad as the tv series. Why did they do the tv series if they were going to re-launch the film series?

Totally agree with Ethan Anderton

I wont even bother to watch this on torrents with no Jason!

PleiadianX on Mar 23, 2015

They could of at least took it in a new direction. The tone and feel seem "exactly" the same as the original 3, so why make the effort to watch it when you could just watch the originals?

Rock n Rollllll on Mar 24, 2015

It doesn't work without Jason Statham. I won't bother with this. Didn't watch the tv series either.

Straight to DVD. They should have coughed up the dough Jason needed and provided scripts for him to review. I really enjoyed the past series but likely won't see this one until it is on Netflix or DVD. Better yet I'll just watch re-runs of the original. Jason was key to the entire series.

Just went to see this and must say that he did a great job. I didn't expect it to be as good but I was very pleasantly suprised and enjoyed this more than the other 3.
