Elle Fanning Set to Lead Nicolas Winding Refn's 'The Neon Demon'
At one time, Carey Mulligan was set to reteam with her Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn for I Walk the Dead. However, a fair amount of time has passed since then, and the project is now known as The Neon Demon with Mulligan no longer in the lead role. But The Wrap now reports that a new star has been found for the project. Super 8 and Maleficent star Elle Fanning will take the role of n aspiring model who is caught in a world of beauty and demise. Refn calls the project a horror film, but this likely won't be just an average genre project, especially since Refn also wrote the script himself with Mary Laws. More below!
On casting Fanning in the lead role, Refn says, "Elle Fanning is a super cool wonder woman and I look forward to going on a terrifying trip with her into The Neon Demon.” The director previously commented on the project saying, "One morning I woke and realized I was both surrounded and dominated by women. Strangely, a sudden urge was planted in me to make a horror film about vicious beauty. After making Drive and falling madly in love with the electricity of Los Angeles, I knew I had to return to tell the story of The Neon Demon.” Production begins in March in Los Angeles. Stay tuned for more.

Sounds a bit like Starry Eyes and I have no problem with that.
