Ex Machina

The sci-fi thriller Ex Machina has been in limited release for a couple weeks now, but this weekend the film featuring future Star Wars actors Domhnall Gleeson and Oscar Isaac expands nationwide to theaters everywhere. And with that comes one final trailer to convince audiences to see this worthwhile flick. There's not much new footage, but the trailer uses quotes from respected scientific experts such as Elon Musk and Stephen Hawking about how much of a gamechanger true artificial intelligence would be, though not necessarily for the better. It's something that's on the verge of not being science fiction. Watch!

Here's the final trailer for Alex Garland's Ex Machina from A24:

You can still watch the previous second trailer for Ex Machina right here.

Ex Machina is written and directed by Alex Garland (writer of Dredd, Sunshine, 28 Days Later). Caleb (Domhnall Gleeson), a 24 year old coder at the world’s largest internet company, wins a competition to spend a week at a private mountain retreat belonging to Nathan (Oscar Isaac), the reclusive CEO of the company. But when Caleb arrives at the remote location he finds that he will have to participate in a strange and fascinating experiment in which he must interact with the world’s first true artificial intelligence, housed in the body of a beautiful robot girl (Alicia Vikander).  A24 Films has the film in limited release now, and everywhere April 24th. Honestly, there aren't many things that scare me in the world. I think we as humanity typically screw up, but then we realize how off we are and can self-correct (not to say we're perfect, just talking to the problems that could destroy all of us). AI is the one area that actually does strike fear into me, and this preview perfectly encapsulates why I'm so scared of it. I think we're driving on a course in that AI will happen, and that we want it to happen. My fear is that when it does arrive, I don't have a clue what comes next.

AI might be the next phase of human evolution. We become gods as we start to create life. And then we slowly seize to exist.

I think watching too much scifi is starting mess with my head...

You are watching way too many movies.. We are very very far from actual AI.. We are, and will, face a great deal many bigger issues before that ever becomes a problem.

That's one way of seeing it. And it's a good one. But it also includes more scary things. I think that we, with all existent weaponry, growing biological hazards and social turmoils caused by inequality and injustice, are preparing a good coctail of dangerously things that will end, or at least, globally, cripple us beyond repair ...

Intelligence? I could make better movies while impersonating other profiles on these pages.
