Full Music Video for Sam Smith's 'Writing's On the Wall' from 'Spectre'
"I've spent a lifetime running, And I always get away. But with you I'm feeling something, That makes me want to stay." Eon Productions has debuted a music video for the new James Bond theme song Spectre, featuring musician/singer Sam Smith. Most of us have already heard the song, but this video adds in some new footage from Spectre as well as some shots of Sam Smith walking around mouthing the lyrics. Daniel Craig returns as Agent 007, and can be seen in the video along with Monica Bellucci and Léa Seydoux. Personally, I'm not really into this song, the singing seems a bit off. I like the orchestral background and I'm crazy excited for the movie itself, but I think we can forget about the song pretty quickly. Anyway - have fun!
Spectre is directed by Sam Mendes (Skyfall, Revolutionary Road, Road to Perdition, American Beauty) and written by Neal Purvis & Robert Wave with John Logan, all with James Bond franchise experience. A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation, Spectre. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind Spectre. Daniel Craig returns as 007 along with Ralph Fiennes as the new M, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny, and Ben Whishaw as Q. New cast members include Christoph Waltz, Monica Bellucci, Dave Bautista and Lea Seydoux. Sony Pictures will release Spectre in theaters on November 6th, 2015 this fall.

I'm liking this song more and more. It works for the romance angle in the film, plus my wife and I just saw him last week in Phoenix! Great show!

Thouse were my thoughts as well. The orchestre in the background barely saves it from not being a Bond song. It's not bad, just way too slow for my taste. I thought Skyfall was already a ballad.

Agreed - without the typical Bond themes in the background its pretty poor. Should be able to standalone IMO without the need to really on the background so much.

Even if I don't care for the artist the bond songs always impress. Sam smith sure can sing though.

Finally, Alex and I agree on something. 🙂 It's going to be hart to to not cringe through the first 4 mins of Spectre. I really wish however they would bring back that John Barry style orchestra as heard in this song. Dave Arnold's scores on Casino and QoS are superb, IMO.

Not a fan, but, I want to see this in the context of the opening scene.

Oh, btw, the resemblance is uncanny.

https://youtu.be/7RmZVf8YgFw I've always felt that Sia's Kill and Run should be a Bond opener. This Smith song is so so.

Sam Smith is a bit like Mumford & Sons. In that he's not very good, but had incredible financial backing from his parent. Well done to him though, mediocre music triumphs yet again.

So this is what it would sound like if you repeatedly kicked a cat in front of an orchestra.

The first time you ever hear Sam Smith. you think he has a good voice, but the more you hear it, the more you hate it.

Not bad, not bad. Never heard Sam Smith sing before but I gotta admit he's a pretty damn good. But rarely do I ever dislike a Bond song tho, except for that abominable TLD one.

Ugh... seriously... what were they thinking...

I listened to the whole friggin thing and I am not a fan. One of the worst Bond ballads ever imo. Pity.

This is leagues better than that Sam Smith garbage. Good choice!

Pretty humdrum for a opening song. I wish it was more impactful. Still ok though. But damn, Adele's SKYFALL was so great.

Not going to listen to it until I go to see the movie, but that title is very uncreative. I assume the word spectre appears in the lyrics, but it would be good as the focus because it's a very evocative word perfect for songwriting.

Long and boring. Sorry but...well...long and boring.

This is one of the worst Bond songs ever. As soon as they announced Sam Smith was doing this theme song, I cringed. I'm not much of a fan of Adele's work, but she was an inspired choice and her "Skyfall" theme song was breathtaking... whereas THIS is the opposite. I couldn't bring myself to listen to this song in full, it's an absolute abomination, horrendously overcooked vocals, amateurish lyrics and the lack of a catchy chorus could make this song my least favourite out of all the other 20-something Bond theme songs they'd made over the years. If they wanted another truly great anthem, they should have went with The National; just listen to their song "Fireproof", in my opinion, it would have been a well-fitting 007 song.

I wanted to give this shot despite what I'd heard, but man...it's just such a nothing song.

This song is terrible and boring.
