Full UK Trailer for Western 'Jane Got a Gun' Starring Natalie Portman
"I've been running my whole life. They come to my house, I'm gunna protect it." Lionsgate UK has debuted a new trailer for the western Jane Got a Gun, starring Natalie Portman as woman who must defend her home when her husband returns home shot to death. We featured the first trailer for this a few months back, and this one follows up with quite a bit of impressive footage. Jane Got a Gun is the film that was plagued with production problems, including actors and the director walking off of set, before it somehow was finished. Now they're packaging it and presenting it and it doesn't look so bad, but maybe that's just the editing here. Joel Edgerton, Rodrigo Santoro, Noah Emmerich & Boyd Holbrook also star. Enjoy.
Here's the new UK trailer for Gavin O'Connor's Jane Got a Gun, direct from Lionsgate's YouTube:
Jane Got a Gun is directed by Gavin O'Connor (Miracle, Pride & Glory, Warrior) and written by Brian Duffield (The Divergent Series: Insurgent). After her outlaw husband returns home shot with eight bullets and barely alive, Jane (Natalie Portman) reluctantly reaches out to an ex-lover (Joel Edgerton) to help her defend her farm when the time comes that her husband’s gang eventually tracks him down to finish the job. Noah Emmerich also stars in the film as Portman's pursued husband while Ewan McGregor plays the gang leader. Rodrigo Santoro and Boyd Holbrook also star in the film, which ran into numerous problems during production including the original director never showing up. The Weinstein Company is now planning to release O'Connor's Jane Got a Gun starting on January 29th, 2016 next year. See the other trailer here.

Well I love westerns, but in a year with TWO staring Kurt Russel with a magnificent beard, I ask do I need more? Yes, more westerns is good.

As much as I like Westerns, this trailer did nothing for me. Too bad. And why should any of us give two hoots about the problems during the production of any film? Most films I worked on encountered many, many problems that ended up having nothing to do with the finished film. It's always a people problem. Human beings trying to create something together without killing one another...lol... Take a look at The Salvation. Now, that's one of the best of these new crop of Westerns. Beware though, because it is dark and gritty like The Drop. Both those movie were shot digital, but still looked good. Not like this Jane thing which looks terrible. To me, important to add that. And Jane was shot on film. Imagine that! The lady DP is pretty good with a nice resume. She shot Australia, which in not a very good film, but it sure looked good.

I'm not sure what to think of this. In different times different kind of Westerns are made. But good ones, they always had something interesting to offer, something connected to characters that doesn't fit here, or can't be found here. Of course, I haven't watched the movie, but it looks like a very simple shooting fest without meaning ...

I'm typically in for a good western. But but I don't see any standout hooks here to get me in. And man, they are leaning on the blue & orange thing pretty heavily.

Is that the whole plot? Unless there is some nudity, think I just saw everything there is to see....

This looks really promising. It has a terrific cast, that's for sure.
