Gareth Evans Says Don't Expect 'The Raid 3' for at Least Three Years

If the incredible action and larger scale story in The Raid 2 left you wanting another round from director Gareth Evans, we have some disappointing news. Don't worry, The Raid 3 is still very much in the works, but Evans just isn't in a hurry to make it. The filmmaker teased a new project on Twitter by saying, "Time to find a brand new collection of streets & buildings outside of Indonesia to fuck up with cars and mayhem." That prompted a fan to ask whether or not it was related to The Raid 3, and sadly, the director dashed our dreams of seeing the sequel anytime soon. However, that doesn't mean he isn't thinking about it. Read on!
. @GundamFan4Life The Raid 3 isn’t going to be happening anytime soon. Ideas in my head. Nothing written. No set date. 2018/19 possibly.

This isn't entirely surprising, especially considering what Evans told Crave Online back in March at SXSW:
"I’m not touching 'The Raid '3 for a couple of years from now. I don’t have any plans to do The Raid 3 within the next two or three years so I’m going to take a break from that franchise for a bit. I want to do some things outside of Indonesia for like two films, then come back to Indonesia and shoot 'The Raid 3.'"
So Evans is busy working on another project right now, and he'll get around to The Raid 3 in a few years. That's a but of a bummer, but we should at least be glad that he's taking his time as opposed to just rushing into the next one. Plus, that will make the experience of finally seeing The Raid 3 that much more exciting. As for the story, all we know is that The Raid 3 actually begins three hours before The Raid 2 is over. So it will actually go back in time a little bit before The Raid 2's storyline began, and then will move forward from there. We'll just have to wait a few years to see how that plays out. But in the meantime, at least we'll see some of The Raid 2 cast in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Cool?
Good. The fight scenes are always 15+ minutes long and the characters are not even breathing heavy or nor do they look tired. They make it very hard to look believable.
