Happy Star Wars Day - it's now May the 4th and everyone is celebrating! Including even Vanity Fair, going all out with their latest issue featuring a cover shot of Han, Chewie and the new gang, plus an entire photo spread shot by Annie Leibovitz. What?! I know! The photos have been unveiled in full this morning, and they're rather revealing, including our very first ever look at Adam Driver in costume on set (as far as we know he plays Kylo Ren). We also get to see more set images featuring director J.J. Abrams and a look at Lupita Nyong'o with her facial capture rig, meaning she's definitely playing some kind of alien. VF states she's playing a character named Maz Kanata. Take a look at all of the impressive new shots revealed below.
Here's the initial set of Annie Leibovitz shots for the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens, direct from VF:
"Annie Leibovitz traveled to London's famed Pinewood Studios to photograph some never-before-seen characters and confirmed a rumor or two in the process. There’s a lot of mystery surrounding the closely guarded Star Wars set, but a few of those well-kept secrets are finally out…" More info at VanityFair.com.
You can still catch the second teaser trailer for The Force Awakens here in our Star Wars category.
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, continuing the beloved original trilogy about Luke, Leia, Han & Chewie that ended in 1983, is directed by J.J. Abrams, of the films Mission: Impossible 3, Star Trek, Super 8 and Star Trek Into Darkness. The screenplay is written by Lawrence Kasdan (Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Return of the Jedi, The Big Chill, The Bodyguard) and J.J. Abrams, with Kathleen Kennedy from Lucasfilm producing. This debut is the beginning of a brand new saga, with another trilogy planned for this storyline, not to mention other standalone movies in this universe. Disney, after acquiring Lucasfilm, will release Star Wars: The Force Awakens in theaters worldwide on December 18th, 2015.

Lol the first one kinda looks like bad photoshop, but the rest are great, and they all look super promising, esp. the creature cast.

Yeah I was kinda wondering why Driver is so clear and the Snowtroopers are so faded.

probably because he's wearing black and they are wearing white and it's snowing...I'm no scientist but that probably has something to do with it

The troopers' black guns and belts are still way more faded than Driver's costume, smarty pants.
