LEGO Oscar

If you didn't watch the 87th Academy Awards last night, you should at least watch the live performance of "Everything is Awesome" from The LEGO Movie. The musical duo Tegan & Sara and the comedic hip-hop trio The Lonely Island took to the stage with an energetic and colorful performance that even had Will Arnett as LEGO Batman and Questlove as Robin on the drums. And during that number, a whole bunch of dancers handed out LEGO Oscar statues to some of Hollywood's biggest names in the audience, such as Oprah Winfrey, Emma Stone, Steve Carell and more. And you may be able to get your own. Look!

First of all, here's some great moments captured of the building block Oscar in the crowd:

And if you're wondering how those LEGO Oscar statues came to be, CNET did a quick feature on LEGO artist and real-life master builder Nathan Sawaya. He made 20 LEGO Oscars for the ceremony, like this:

All right, obviously that's too fast to really see how to build your own, but you can see that he's using glue (which Phil Lord & Chris Miller may not approve of). However, the 500-brick creation just might make it to shelves someday. Sawaya says, "So many people have asked me about getting their own LEGO Oscar that I submitted it to LEGO Ideas so that everyone has the ability to get one. Hopefully it will be approved at some point and we can all start supporting it." The project isn't posted on LEGO Ideas yet, but stay tuned.

I want to make one, but instead I will stew in jealousy.

It's up on Lego as a Lego Idea, and needs 10,000 recommends to make it - I love it. It would be awesome for filmmaker friends, Oscar parties, more.
